The Consulate General of Pakistan at Jeddah organized a special evening to mark the birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal. Chairman ‘Majlis-e-Iqbal’, Jeddah Amir Rizvi presided over the event.
The function, held in the Consulate General’s premises, was attended by poets, writers, and notables of the Pakistani community and media persons.
At the outset of the event, special messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out.
Speakers highlighted the unique personality traits of the Poet Philosopher including his vision and leadership, his accomplishments, both as a poet and a leader. Pakistani poets also recited poems in honour of Iqbal.
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General of Pakistan, Khalid Majid, paid glowing tributes to Allama Iqbal for his vision for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent, which became a reality with the creation of Pakistan. He said that while celebrating the birth anniversary of this great poet and philosopher, it is essential to study more in-depth about his philosophy of life, about individual responsibility and communal harmony.
The Consul General thanked HM the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and HRH Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Suleiman for promoting cultural activities in the kingdom.
The event concluded with a collective prayer for the wellbeing of the people and leadership of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Precautionary measures related to COVID-19 were duly observed during the interaction.
