CONSUL GENERAL OF PAKISTAN HOSTS DINNER BANQUET IN HONOUR OF PAKISTANI SCIENTIST AND SPORTS HEROES AT
PAKISTAN HOUSE, JEDDAH

Jeddah: 15 January, 2025 Consul General of Pakistan, Mr. Khalid Majid, held a dinner banquet in honour of Pakistani scientist, Dr Ata-ur-Rehman, International cricket legend Shahid Afridi and Olympic Javelin Gold medallist Arshad Nadeem at Pakistan House in Jeddah today.

The event was attended by a cross-section of community members, sports enthusiast, academics and intellectuals based in Jeddah. Professor Donal Bradly, President NEOM Education, Research & Innovation Foundation and Professor Michael Buerman, Chairman of Winter Enrichment Program (WEP), King Abdullah University of Science & Technology along with large number of faculty members from KAUST were also present at the event. During the event, Dr. Ata-ur-Rehman shared the inroads made in the academic sector of Saudi-Pakistan relations, and amplified upon the need to invest in latest technologies in order to keep abreast with the fast pace of marvels of sciences and technologies. On their part, international sports heroes, Shahid Afridi and Arshad Nadeem spoke about their individual experiences in their respective sports careers and their struggles before attaining global fame. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Bradly, shed light on the NEOM city in Saudi Arabia and its unique and remarkable position in the region and the determination of the Saudi nation.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Khalid Majid expressed his immense delight to honour the guests at Pakistan House Jeddah and praised the academic and scientific achievements of Dr. Ata-ur-Rehman and his contributions in the uplift of Pakistan’s academic arena. Mr. Majid also praised the heroism of Pakistani sports legends and urged the community to replicate their spirit for success in our individual lives. He thanked the Saudi government and KAUST for pioneering initiatives to highlight the rich inroads made in science and technology and particularly for inviting Pakistani celebrities as a part of this WEP.
