Shoaib Akhtar Participates in Cricket Coaching Camp held at Pakistan International School Jeddah
Consulate General of Pakistan and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) collaborate to organize a cricket coaching session for young cricketers of Pakistani school in Jeddah. Cricketing legend and a world class fast bowler from Pakistan, Mr. Shoaib Akhtar shared cricketing tips with young cricketers of Pakistani origin in KSA. This event is part of Winter Enrichment Program (WEP) of KAUST.
Cricket coaching camp was attended by large number of young cricketers, students, Jeddah cricket association and cricket enthusiasts. Shoaib Akhtar emphasized on sportsman spirit, physical and mental health fitness as critical components for the formation of an athlete and sports person. In his remarks Mr. Shoaib Akhtar shared is life and success story with the students and audience.
Shoaib Akhtar signed cricket balls, sports shirts and his Biography “Controversially Yours” and distributed among present participants on basis of lucky draws.
Event was followed by a dinner in the honor of Mr. Shoaib Akhtar at Pakistan house in Jeddah. Addressing the dinner gathering Consul General Mr. Khalid Majid highlighted the important role, sports can play in bringing communities and nations together. He Highlighted the potential for cricket game in the Kingdom and how Pakistani community and Pakistan can share their cricketing experience with Kingdome of Saudi Arabia.
Selected highlights of Shoaib Akhtar’s cricketing career mesmerized the audience and in his remarks Shoaib thanked KAUST and Consulate Jeddah and Pakistani community for their support for him and cricket.
Mr. Xin Gao Winter Enrichment Program chair of KAUST addressing the occasion highlighted that how sports and cultural activities can bring the communities together. Ms. Samia Falimban, Director KAUST for cultural engagement and Dr. Faiz Zainulabidin, of Jeddah Cricket Association and Mr. Umer Masood Puri from Pakistani business community were among the attendees.
Dinner was attended by a large number of Pakistani community notables, business men and social workers and KAUST administration, community and faculty members.
Mr. Shoaib Akhtar will also be key note speaker for Winter Enrichment Program in KAUST. Many world renowned sports, science and business leaders have delivered lectures as key note speaker in KAUST.
