The Consulate General of Pakistan, Jeddah and the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to OIC jointly organized a business networking event at Pakistan House Jeddah on the evening of 8th December, 2022. Prominent Saudi investors and businessmen, Honorary Consuls Generals and investment Consuls, Entrepreneurs, and Pakistani business professionals attended the event in good numbers. The event aimed at introducing the forthcoming 18th OIC Trade Fair scheduled to be held at Lahore on 16-18 June, 2023.
Welcoming the guests, Consul General Khalid Majid invited them to participate in the upcoming OIC Trade Fair. He said that Trade Fair would provide an innovative and unique networking opportunity to businessmen from OIC member states. He informed that Saudi Arabia would be announced as the Country of Honour in the Trade Fair which would provide additional opportunity for its businessmen for mutual benefit of both the countries to further strengthen bilateral business relations.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representatives to the OIC Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh highlighted the huge potential for Saudi businessmen in Pakistan for trade and investment activities in various sectors and invited them to utilize it for further strengthening of business and economic ties of the two countries. Talking about Saudi Arabia as the Country of Honour in the Trade Fair, Ambassador Sheikh said that it would provide Saudi businessmen additional privileges and opportunities to showcase their goods and services to their OIC counterparts. He invited Saudi businessmen for joint ventures with Pakistan in business and investment and in joint branding of goods and services. He further said that Pakistan preferred to “sell with Saudi Arabia” rather than “selling to Saudi Arabia”.
Earlier, a presentation on the background, scope and huge potential of the 18th OIC Trade Fair in Pakistan was given besides displaying a short documentary on investment opportunities in various sectors of Pakistan. The event was duly covered by Saudi and ethnic media. Towards the end, the guests were served with traditional Pakistani cuisine.
The 18th OIC Trade Fair will focus on sectors including Readymade Garments, Home Textiles, Footwear, Gems & Jewelry, Furniture, Handicrafts, Beauty and Health Products, Carpets, Pharmaceuticals, Sports Goods, Agro & Food Products, Halal Products, Cutlery, IT and Other Services, and Light Engineering Products. There will be sideline events including Pakistan – Africa Business Forum, OIC Asia Investment Promotion Agencies Policy Dialogue Forum, Training Workshop on Certification in Halal products, presentation of OIC Halal Economy Report and First OIC Halal Food Festival.
